A perfect stay
Perfection doesn’t do Dar Almajula justice. From the moment you are so warmly welcomed, even 3 hours late from your flight at 10.30pm with a 3 course dinner still miraculously cooked superbly by skilled chef Mehdi, to the moment you’re given such a kind goodbye, your stay with Laurence and Alain will be filled with the very fondest of experiences.
A great deal of thought has been given to updating the Dar so sympathetically to its surroundings, it’s a real pleasure to just sit and look around the place. It feels so spacious wherever you are, in or outside of your room. The separate lounge in the room was such a nice touch as was the second bathroom, it felt quite decadent. The view out of the windows is lovely still given the many plants that have been sympathetically planted.
Breakfast was bountiful, so much so we tended not to have lunch.
The location is great, it’s only a 10 minute drive to the Medina (we used a taxi company recommended by Laurence) but it’s lovely and quiet being out of town. There’s some little shops in the area and we’d recommend La Cabane for food which is down the road a little way.
We can highly recommend Lou’s rides in the Medina for a variety of tours on some very cool electric hybrid bicycle/motorbikes that don’t require a driver’s licence. They picked us up outside the Dar.
My husband and I rarely say we want more time at a hotel or guesthouse but we said we would have wanted more time here. Laurence in particular really went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed, her communication before we arrived was prompt and very helpful and she was so interesting to talk to during our stay. She is definitely one of the kindest ‘hosts’ we’ve ever had on our worldwide travels.
Don’t hesitate to book Dar Almajula!
